13" and 12" installation
guide for '84 - '87 Fiero |

1)
|
Refer to shop manual for removal procedure for the existing calipers, dust
shield, caliper mounting brackets, and rotors. Retain hardware for use
with new brackets supplied with the WCF 12” brake kit. The replacement
hubs are not supplied with new wheel bearings or seals as the seals and
bearings on your car may still be in peak condition and can be transferred
over to the WCF supplied hubs.
|
|
2) |
Remove the lower shock bolt and drill a new hole next to the stock hole.
This will move the shock inwards to allow for more clearance for the brake
caliper. The caliper will still touch the shock under hard turns.
|
|
3)
|
The replacement front brake calipers are left and right hand units with
the bleeder screw located at the bottom. The supplied mounting brackets
are interchangeable from left to right. After making sure that the
mounting ears on the existing Fiero spindles are clean, bolt the small
four-hole bracket with the two 12mm bolts supplied in the outer two hole
locations with the spacers between the two brackets, with the bolts going
from the caliper bracket through the spacer to the adapter. After this,
install the bracket to the spindle mounting ears on the spindle, making
sure that the adapter bracket is on the outside of the ears on the
spindle. Use the bolts from the old bracket to mount the new adapter
bracket to the spindle. Note: You will have to remove the caliper. Add a
spacer between the pads and bleed the brakes in the upright position then
install.
|
|
4) |
Replace the OEM front rotors with the hubs and hub centric rings provided
in the WCF kit, using the shop Manual for the proper installation
procedure of the hubs.
|
|
5) |
Install the Vette caliper to the new bracket using the standard Vette
mounting pins for the caliper.

|
|
1) |
Remove the calipers and rotors, as well as the dust covers from the rear
brake assemblies. On some Fiero’s there is a small bracket on the
lower "A" arm that has to be ground down or cut back to miss the back side
of the rotor. Along with this, the tab on the upright has to be removed to
clear the rotor.
|
|
2) |
Remove grind the ears on the lower “A” arm in front of the ball joint as
they will hit the rotor when the car is lowered to the ground.
|
|
3) |
Install the new caliper bracket. Use the 11mm allen head cap screws
with the spacer to bolt the adapter on to the mounting ears on the upright
then tighten to the repair manuals specifications. We use the Fiero
caliper bolts as there are no 11 mm bolts available.
|
|
4) |
Place the rotor on the hub flange with the rotor spacer.
|
|
5) |
Install the caliper assembly with the new mounting pins.
|
|
6) |
Install the brake lines with new copper crush washers. Bleed the brakes as
per the shop Manual.
|
|
7) |
Make sure all bolts are tight on the brake system!
|
|
8) |
Drill a hole in the sub frame in the cavity where the lower "A" arm is
located approximately one half of the way between the transverse cross
member and the engine oil pan on each side to relocate the emergency brake
cables. This is where the cables from the wheels will now cross the frame.
|
|
9) |
Remove the clamp on the emergency cable next to the strut to allow the
cable to move down. Now run the cable under the drive shaft around the oil
pan and connect to the other cables. Drill a new screw hole ( 3/16" ) below
the old hole to move the cable down and reclamp the emergency cable that
goes inside the car to the brake lever. Now adjust the cable to the
factory Fiero specification. |
