Figure 1. |
| 1.) |
Remove the stock Fiero Battery from its mounting in the engine
compartment. Position the battery in the new battery box to check for fit. Slightly round the square molding corners next to the battery terminals so that the entire terminal and post slides through the two post holes in the battery box. |
| 2.) | Remove the spare tire from the well. |
| 3.) | Draw a horizontal line 2” down from and parallel to the top of the front splash plate. |
| 4.) | Draw a horizontal line 11-3/4” down from and parallel to the top of the front splash plate. |
| 5.) | Draw a vertical line 5-3/8” left of center of the front splash plate. |
| 6.) | Draw a vertical line 5-3/8” right of center of the front splash plate. |
| 7.) | Double check your measurements to insure that you have a 9-3/4” x 10-3/4” rectangle outlined that is 2” down from the top of the front splash plate and very nearly centered. |
| 8) | Cut out the opening. |
| 9.) | Insert the new battery box into the opening. Make sure there is clearance to the sway bar and that there are no other obstructions. |
| 10.) | Drill the bolt holes for mounting the new battery box. |
| 11.) | Apply a thin bead of latex caulking around the mounting lip of the battery box to prevent any road splash from getting into the front compartment. |
| 12.) |
Mount the new battery box and bolt in place with the bolts provided. Note: The longest of the bolts provided is installed at the bottom center of the Battery box, inserted from the FRONT of the car, and a nut installed on the spare tire side. On top of this nut install the battery hold-down clamp. After installing the battery, place the last nut on top of the clamp to hold the battery firmly in place. |
